Andrei Atroshenko was born in 1965 in Pokrovsk in Russia and was accepted as a ‘Gifted Child’ into the Children’s Art School in 1977, graduating with honours in 1981. After further training at the Bryansk Art College, he went to the St Petersburg Academy of Art. After graduation in 1994 he took part in a number of exhibitions in St Petersburg. In 1999 he was invited by a New England art group – ‘Bay Arts’, to take part in their exhibition and he spent an entire year in the United States. He came across the work of Pino Daeni and Spanish painter Royo at the Artexpo in New York in 2000, and he realised what direction he wanted to take his art into. His lush oils show the influence of these two artists and have a feeling redolent of the 1950’s. We are delighted to be representing Andrei in the UK.
