Olga Shirokova

Olga was born in Solikamsk in the Urals in 1976.  Since 1997 she has exhibited her work all around the world and her paintings are in collections in Poland, Latvia, Belgium and the UK.

Although she sometimes uses watercolours, Olga prefers to work in oils.   Her palette dances with light and reflections.  As well as being the product of her imagination, her technique is methodical.  The paintings are carefully built up using layer upon layer of oil paint, giving a depth and richness of colour and composition, with a sensually textured surface.

She will normally work on several paintings simultaneously, moving from one to another, to allow each layer to dry appropriately before adding more paint or working the surface.
